Job summary

Wolviston Management Services Limited is seeking a Senior Buyer to join a busy industrial and chemical manufacturing environment. You will lead purchasing activities, manage supplier relationships and drive contract performance to ensure efficient sourcing and high standards.

The role involves working with technical teams and internal stakeholders to support operational requirements, capital projects and procurement strategy development.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial or manufacturing procurement.
• CIPS qualification or working towards accreditation.
• Strong contract development and supplier management experience.
• Knowledge of tenders, CAPEX purchasing and contract performance monitoring.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement activities across a large industrial site, ensuring value for money and continuity of supply.
• Develop and manage supplier contracts, terms, commercial strategies and contract structures.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve supply chain performance.
• Monitor supplier performance and maintain supplier relationships.
• Provide procurement support for CAPEX projects and contract selection.
• Coordinate tendering processes, supplier evaluations and contract awards.
• Ensure procurement policies, procedures and relevant legal/financial compliance.

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Buyer to join a well-established organisation operating within a busy industrial and chemical manufacturing environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused procurement professional to take responsibility for purchasing activities, supplier relationships and contract management, ensuring goods and services are sourced efficiently, competitively and to the highest standards.

Working closely with technical teams, internal stakeholders and suppliers, you will play a key role in supporting operational requirements, capital projects and the ongoing development of procurement strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage procurement activities across a large industrial site, ensuring value for money, quality and continuity of supply.
• Develop and manage supplier contracts, including terms and conditions, commercial strategies and contract structures.
• Identify opportunities to improve supply chain efficiencies, reduce costs and enhance supplier performance.
• Manage supplier relationships and monitor contractual performance.
• Provide procurement support for capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, including sourcing strategies and contract selection.
• Coordinate and support invitation-to-tender processes, supplier evaluations and contract awards.
• Work closely with technical representatives and internal departments to ensure procurement requirements are met.
• Support supplier pre-qualification processes and coordinate supplier and client audits.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures and relevant legal and financial requirements.
• Promote effective use of procurement systems and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience in a Buyer, Senior Buyer or Procurement role, ideally within an industrial, engineering or manufacturing environment.
• CIPS qualified or currently working towards CIPS accreditation.
• Strong experience in contract development, administration and supplier management.
• Knowledge of commercial terms and conditions, procurement strategies and contract performance monitoring.
• Experience identifying supply chain efficiencies and resolving supplier performance issues.
• Previous involvement in project procurement and CAPEX purchasing.
• Experience managing or supporting formal tendering processes.
• Confident using procurement systems and working within established policies and procedures.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
