Job summary

Recra Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join its fast paced procurement team in the UK. You will lead strategic sourcing for materials and equipment across manufacturing and projects, managing a £50M spend with a team of five.

Responsibilities include developing procurement strategies, supplier portfolio management, negotiations, risk mitigation, KPI reporting, and cross-functional collaboration to align procurement with business goals.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in a senior procurement role, preferably in manufacturing or construction.
  • Proven track record of managing high-value procurement portfolios (£50M+) and leading procurement teams.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to drive cost savings and value creation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for presentations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic procurement of materials and equipment for manufacturing and Projects across the UK. This role involves managing a substantial spend of £50M across a team of 5, requiring strong leadership and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimise cost savings, improve quality, and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of suppliers, fostering strong relationships and negotiating favourable terms and conditions
  • Analyse market trends, conduct research on potential suppliers, and stay informed about industry developments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and finance, to align procurement activities with organisational goals
  • Oversee the entire procurement process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve procurement effectiveness

  • Familiarity with Bistract software or similar procurement management systems is desirable
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, supply chain management, and relevant industry regulations
