Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a hugely successful Irish wholesale business on the appointment of a Senior Buyer on a full-time permanent basis. This is a brand-new position which has been created to support the current growth and development of the business.

As the Senior Buyer you will develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies while reducing expenses and improving purchasing efficiency. This position will include weekly travel to County Roscommon for the first 1-2 months but this will reduce to once a month thereafter.

In your new role:

• Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
• Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
• Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
• Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
• Perform cost and scenario analysis, and bench marking
• Assess, manage and mitigate risks
• Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
• Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
• Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand

What you will need to succeed:

• 3 years recent experience in a purchasing position
• Prior experience in a builders merchants/hardware wholesale is advantageous
• Strong experience purchasing from China
• Full clean driving license
