Indra Park Air work with customers all over the globe to make air travel safer. For over 50 years we’ve been one of the leading producers of VHF and UHF radios, providing the vital link between the ground and the air for passenger, freight and military aircraft.

The reasons behind our success are simple and won’t change. First, we work harder for the customer than the rest. We take time to truly know their needs and create the right product for them. We train them how to use it, we won’t let our equipment be deployed until every detail is right, and then we provide the best care and service for all of our products as long as they are still used.

At Indra Park Air we stay the best by looking to the future – to new requirements and new possibilities. A radio remains a radio but we never stop thinking about how we can improve it, how we make it and how it can offer more to our customers. It’s no wonder that we are one of only 2% of companies worldwide to hold PLATINUM Level in Investors in People Accreditation.

As the Senior Buyer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the Supply Chain, Direct and Indirect procurement and associated disciplines. You will provide timely and accurate data to the Operations Manager on key departmental data.

What you will do:

  • Utilise historic & forecast data, business acumen and commodity knowledge, to devise and implement part supply strategies that fulfil the needs of internal customers while minimising transaction, transportation and Working Capital costs
  • Correctly prioritise and act timely to raise purchase orders against the following demands in accordance with the LOA: MRP / LOD, Counter shortages, RFP for direct and indirect
  • Forge strong relationships with suppliers that promote flexibility, quality, cost reduction and on-time in full (OTIF) delivery through quarterly business reviews with Tier One suppliers. Work with suppliers to ensure a minimum Supplier Rating of ‘C’ is sustained
  • Identify and act on key supply issues and patterns from partial or conflicting data. This can relate to issues including, but not limited to, MRP system output, requirements forecasting and patterns in supplier performance metrics
  • Perform due diligence on new suppliers / annual checks on all suppliers and action accordingly any suspect or concerning data or red flags
  • Conduct annual Re-Costing and Benchmarking activities, including but not limited to:
  • Build supplier relationships within your commodities to ensure a competitive evaluation at benchmarking
  • Continually question prices and work with suppliers to develop strategies to maximise sustainable cost reductions
  • Monitor trends in commodity pricing and exchange rates and utilise these data to inform benchmarking and re-costing decisions
  • Liaise with the planning team to determine appropriate annual volume forecasts and utilise these data to inform part supply categorisation (ABC) and stocking policy for the coming year
  • Deputise for the Supply Chain Manager on purchasing matters when required
  • Lead complex supplier negotiations to optimise price, payment terms and liability. Define the appropriate structure to support such agreements within MRP
  • Formally train junior staff and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience

What we are looking for:

You will preferably be working towards or be CIPS qualified. We are particularly interested in receiving your application if you have experience in any of the following areas:

  • In depth knowledge of supply chain, negotiations and related disciplines
  • Knowledge of standard costs and formal benchmarking techniques and practices
  • Previous supervisory experience would be preferable
  • Knowledge or experience of working in electronics is desirable
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a range of stakeholders
  • Proven experience in a supply chain environment with sound commercial knowledge
