Job description

Senior Buyer (Outside IR35)

Location: Anywhere in the UK

Anderselite are recruiting on behalf of a tier one contractor for a Senior Buyer. The Procurement and Supply Chain Management function is responsible for the interface with those third-party organisations who support our business whether that be for procurement of goods and services or the relationship management that underpins any such activities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the sector, driving efficiency, sustainability, and innovation within the procurement and supply chain functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supporting the Project teams or Procurement Manager to deliver the project, procurement, and supply chain objectives.
  2. Implementation of procurement strategies that align with project goals and company objectives.
  3. Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply chains and negotiate favourable terms.
  4. Monitor and control procurement costs, ensuring budget adherence and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  5. Negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring terms and conditions are favourable and compliant with company policies.
  6. Ensure all procured materials and services meet the required quality standards and specifications.
  7. Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities, including supply chain disruptions and price volatility.
  8. Oversee inventory levels to ensure materials are available when needed without excessive stockpiling.

Essential:
  1. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the civil engineering or construction industry.
  2. Proficiency in procurement software and tools, strong understanding of supply chain management principles.
  3. Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  5. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to manage supplier relationships and collaborate with internal teams.
  6. High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in procurement processes and documentation.

Qualifications:
  1. Full member or working towards the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (min level 5).
