Duties And Responsibilities
To support the Purchasing Manager and be an effective member of the Purchasing Team, by maximising purchasing leverage to improve competitive edge and to deliver best value, price, quality, on-time delivery, utilising purchasing tools and techniques in line with recognised best practice, legal and policy requirements.
Functions
ESSENTIAL
- Individual contributor that is fully proficient in applying established standards.
- General work direction is given and completed; assignments and/or work is reviewed to ensure compliance with processes, standards and policies of the organization.
- May instruct/mentor others and may supervise individual contributors to ensure the work completion is as per set standards and procedures.
- Displays required levels of engagement and a positive `can-do` attitude while consistently supporting Oceaneering culture of Safety, Quality, ongoing learning and continual improvement.
- Issuance of RFQ’s to suppliers in accordance with the AVL, ensuring all technical, HSE and Quality requirements are included.
- Understanding of drawings and technical specifications.
- Supplier selection and negotiations including exceptions to company terms and conditions, incoterms, payment terms, pricing and service levels.
- Prepare bid evaluation and award recommendation.
- Responsible for the ITT process for high value purchases and pricing agreements including preparation of scope, finalising of bidders list, issuance of tender documents, evaluation of tender submissions, negotiation of commercial terms including any exceptions to company Terms & Conditions, compiling recommendation for award, award, and post award management.
- Management of supplier performance, undertake reviews.
- Involvement in supply chain strategy and departmental KPI’s, aiding towards goals & objectives.
- Deliver aggressive year on year cost savings.
- Maximising usage of long term supplier agreements.
- Participate in HSE Awareness – Observation Cards, HSE Safety Suggestions.
- Support Quality in vendor related non-conformances and development, ensuring lessons learned are executed fully.
- Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.
- Any other roles or tasks as required to support our business needs including carrying out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.
Safety
Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to so far as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure a safe working environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position has limited supervisory responsibilities (see above).
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- Extensive experience in a buyer/senior buyer role (ideally with exposure to procuring high volume of purchasing from drawings and technical specifications).
- CIPS Qualification achieved or being worked towards.
