Job summary

Newcastle Hospitals invites applications for a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with a special interest in orthoplastic surgery and burns. The post involves integration into multidisciplinary burns and trauma teams, development of practice areas, and leadership of reconstructive services across the region.

The role requires microsurgical expertise, a track record in education and research, and a commitment to teaching, governance, and service development.

Qualifications

• Primary medical qualification and GMC registration.
• Experience in burns and lower limb reconstruction.
• Microsurgical fellowship.
• Higher degree and research activity.
• Ability to lead and manage projects within a specialist service.

Responsibilities

• Integrate into the multidisciplinary burns and lower extremity trauma teams.
• Develop areas of practice and streamline the surgical journey in acute burns care and lower extremity trauma.
• Provide a reconstructive service for burns and lower extremity trauma.
• Join the burns on-call rota (1:6).
• Maintain a clinical activity log.
• Support an academic portfolio and regional teaching; mentor trainees.
