Job summary

Peabody in London is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to provide technical leadership and deliver high-quality repairs and maintenance across our housing portfolio. You will act as a subject matter expert, guiding surveys, reports and specifications to support investment decisions.

Two vacancies cover North East London and South London. You’ll mentor surveyors, manage contractors, and ensure compliance with Building Regulations, HHSRS and the Decent Homes Standard while keeping residents safe

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Surveying or related discipline.
• MRICS (Essential).
• Full UK Driving Licence (essential for South London).

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex, high-value repairs and maintenance projects.
• Provide expert advice on defects, damp, mould and moisture ingress.
• Act as technical escalation point for surveyors and teams.
• Undertake specialist investigations and surveys; recommend solutions.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications and schedules of work.
• Mentor and develop surveyors; promote best practice.
• Manage contractors to ensure compliance and value.
• Carry out quality audits and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Asset Management and Building Safety teams.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and standards including Awaab's Law.
