Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Macdonald & Company is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to oversee a substantial commercial property portfolio across the North West and beyond. You’ll own projects from conception to completion, shape strategies and work with experienced property professionals to ensure buildings stay compliant and fit for the future.
You’ll influence investment plans and manage external consultants and contractors while solving complex building issues.
Buildings that look perfectly fine from the outside, but all the while plotting expensive surprises for whoever is responsible for them.
And then there are buildings that have a good Building Surveyor looking after them.
This is looking for someone who appreciates the latter.
I’m working with a client-side developer who need a Senior Building Surveyor. You’d be looking after a substantial commercial property portfolio across the North West and beyond.
You'll take ownership of projects from conception to completion, help shape strategies and work alongside experienced property professionals to ensure buildings stay compliant and fit for the future. You'll be making decisions, influencing investment plans, managing external consultants and contractors all while solving complex building issues.
The sort of person who'll enjoy this role
You’ll probably be the person others already go to when the problem isn't straightforward, having spent enough time in commercial property to know that each building has its own personality, and some of them are considerably more irksome than others.
You might currently be in consultancy and wondering what it would be like to see projects all the way through.
Or perhaps you're already client side and looking for a more varied portfolio, influence, and the opportunity to shape how assets are managed.
You'll be comfortable handling:
You'll also enjoy mentoring others, sharing knowledge and helping less experienced surveyors develop.
What makes this different?
The organisation behind this role takes a long-term view of its assets - the focus isn't simply on fixing today's problems, it's about creating buildings that perform better in the future too.
That means sustainability, building performance and smart technology matters.
You'll have the freedom to influence decisions, challenge assumptions, and bring your own expertise to the role too.
What's on offer?
Alongside a highly competitive package, you'll find:
Most importantly, you'll be joining a team that values expertise, collaboration and good judgement.
Because while good surveyor can identify a defect, the real skill is knowing what to do about it before it becomes someone else's emergency.
