The role

We’re seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to join our London Building Surveying team at our Cannon Street head office. This role emphasizes core traditional building surveying duties, project work across multiple sectors, and a full range of professional services for various client accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high-quality building surveying services, focusing on contract administration for refurbishment projects across diverse properties.
• Achieve fee income targets aligned with the role.
• Assist in developing new building consultancy opportunities.
• Manage client relationships to meet financial objectives.
• Comply with Cluttons’ policies and systems.
• Provide accurate management reports to partners.
• Support the development of graduates.

• Contribute to team effectiveness, share knowledge, and advise colleagues.
• Develop and mentor graduates.
• Represent the firm at networking events, sharing market insights.

Clients and Business Development

• Maintain existing client relationships and generate new business.
• Identify and pursue new opportunities within and outside your discipline.
• Handle a broad range of assignments, consulting with senior colleagues on complex issues.
• Manage project sections for investor and occupier clients.
• Enhance Cluttons' reputation through successful project delivery.
• Build cross-service networks.

Financial

• Meet contractual financial requirements.
• Forecast fees accurately.
• Support initiatives to improve profitability.

• Evaluate and improve standards, techniques, and procedures.

• Participate in wider projects as needed.

Candidate Requirements

• MRICS qualified as a Building Surveyor for at least 3 years.
• Strong experience in professional and project-based building surveying.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective workflow management for timely delivery and billing.
• Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel.
• Proficiency with MS Office; experience with MS Project, Monday.com is beneficial.
