Job Title: Senior Building Surveyor
Location: Leeds
Salary: 50,000 - 60,000

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join a well-established consultancy practice. This position offers autonomy in managing diverse projects while maintaining strong client relationships and developing junior team members.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead project delivery from inception to completion, ensuring quality standards and budget compliance
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including drawings, specifications and feasibility studies
• Conduct building surveys across various property types and produce detailed reports with actionable recommendations
• Manage financial aspects of medium-scale projects and coordinate external consultants
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, local authorities and project stakeholders
• Mentor junior surveyors and contribute to team development
• Support business development activities and proposal preparation

Essential Requirements

• Degree in Building Surveying or related discipline
• Substantial experience in project management, building surveys, and contract administration
• Strong background in party wall matters and landlord/tenant issues
• Proven ability to lead and develop team members
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working within structured quality management systems

Desirable Qualifications

• MRICS membership or working towards chartership
• Experience with modern design software packages

Technical Expertise Required

• In-depth knowledge of both traditional and contemporary construction methods
• Understanding of Building Regulations and relevant legislation
• Familiarity with standard form contracts (JCT experience advantageous)
• Experience across new build and refurbishment projects
• Ability to identify construction defects and propose practical solutions
