Job summary

Notting Hill Genesis is seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to lead our Damp & Mould Team in delivering complex inspection, remediation and improvement programmes for residents. You will provide technical leadership, manage cases, and ensure a proactive, high‑quality service that resolves issues long term.

You'll collaborate with Repairs, Assets and Housing, contribute to the Repair Strategy, mentor surveyors, and help drive improvements in diagnosing and preventing damp and mould

Qualifications

• Senior surveying qualification (BSc/MSc) with chartered membership.
• Post-qualification experience in residential property services.
• Experience managing major works projects and cost appraisals.
• Experience leading a team and supervising surveyors.
• Strong track record investigating damp, mould and condensation.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex damp and mould investigations and remedial programmes.
• Carry out detailed surveys and prepare technical reports and cost appraisals.
• Manage contractors and suppliers to deliver value and meet NHG standards.
• Monitor contractor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Provide expert advice on major repairs, defects, latent defects, FRA, EPC and other property matters.
• Mentor surveyors and develop technical capability within the team.
• Engage with residents and keep them informed throughout complex cases.
• Analyze performance information to improve delivery of repairs and surveying services.

Job description

What you'll do

Damp and mould is one of our key priorities, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to play a leading role within our dedicated Damp & Mould Team.

As a Senior Building Surveyor, you'll lead the delivery of complex inspection, remediation and improvement programmes focused on damp, mould, condensation and associated building defects. Using your extensive surveying expertise, you'll provide technical leadership, manage complex cases, support colleagues and contractors, and ensure residents receive a proactive, high-quality service that resolves issues for the long term rather than simply treating symptoms.

You'll work closely with colleagues across Repairs, Assets and Housing, helping to drive improvements in how we diagnose, manage and prevent damp and mould issues. As a member of the Repairs Senior Management Team, you'll also contribute to the development of our Repair Strategy and the continuous improvement of our surveying services.

How you'll do it

• Lead complex damp and mould investigations, building defect assessments and remedial programmes, ensuring works are delivered on time and within budget.
• Carry out detailed building surveys and prepare technical reports, specifications, recommendations and cost appraisals.
• Manage contractors, consultants and specialist suppliers, ensuring works deliver value for money and meet NHG standards.
• Monitor contractor performance using data, insight and technical expertise, identifying opportunities for improvement and service enhancement.
• Provide expert advice on major repairs, defects, latent defects, FRA, EPC and other technical property matters.
• Support and mentor surveyors within the team, helping to build technical capability and professional development.
• Work closely with residents, keeping them informed throughout complex cases and ensuring their experience remains at the centre of decision-making.
• Analyse performance information and identify opportunities to improve the delivery of repairs, damp and mould services and wider surveying functions

Essential:

• Senior surveying qualification (e.g., BSc/MSc), Chartered Membership of RICS or CIOB
• In-depth post-qualification experience providing services to residential property owners and managers
• Significant experience in project management of major works, including cost appraisal
• Experience in managing a team
• Strong experience investigating building defects, including damp, mould and condensation issues.
• Experience delivering repair improvement plans and performance projects in complex delivery models.

Desirable:

• Experience working within social housing.
