Who We Are

Eastlight Community Homes is proud to be the largest community gateway social housing provider in the country. Together with our residents and communities, we create safe, affordable homes and neighbourhoods that people are proud to live in.

The Role

Are you an experienced Senior Building Surveyor who's passionate about maintaining accurate asset data and leading a high-performing team? Eastlight, a prominent player in social housing, is seeking a skilled Senior Surveyor to not only drive the accuracy of our asset data but also to inspire and manage a dedicated team. Your leadership will ensure that we make effective investments in our residential and broader property assets, directly contributing to the achievement of our company targets and our mission of providing quality homes and nurturing communities.

Role Overview:

As a Senior Building Surveyor, you’ll lead from the front, overseeing essential surveying tasks including stock condition assessments, damp and mould surveys, structural surveys, and Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) evaluations. Beyond your technical expertise, you'll be responsible for managing and motivating your team to achieve collective goals, ensuring that our property asset data remains accurate and reliable, and empowering the team to meet the company's ambitious targets.

This role demands a strong leader with the ability to communicate vision, provide guidance, and ensure high standards of delivery. If you're ready to take charge and drive both team and individual success, we invite you to apply. A valid full UK driving license and access to a car are required for this position, along with proven surveying expertise and a deep understanding of domestic property construction.

What You'll Do:

Lead, manage, and develop your team to ensure the successful delivery of stock condition surveys, damp and mould assessments, and other key asset management initiatives, driving performance to meet the company’s strategic objectives.

Conduct comprehensive surveys on habitable and non-habitable assets, including damp and mould surveys, aligned with our Asset Management Strategy.

Oversee and guide the stock condition process, providing critical property information for investment decisions and maintenance planning.

Collaborate with third-party engineers to identify and address issues in structural and Damp & Condensation projects, while mentoring your team on best practices.

Manage insurance claims related to asset damage, guiding your team through the process to resolve claims efficiently.

Ensure the accurate production of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and energy data capture, leading the team to drive continuous improvement.

Manage HHSRS assessments, ensuring potential risks are identified and mitigated across our portfolio.

Take charge of the Landlords consent process, minimizing risks and ensuring compliance.

Oversee disrepair claims, insurance claims, and asset-related legal processes, providing leadership and direction to your team throughout these challenges.

Ensure new build homes meet quality assurance standards, providing oversight to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.

Carry out additional surveying duties as required, supporting the wider asset management team with your expertise.

Must Haves:

Proven surveying expertise and a strong technical knowledge in domestic property construction.

Experience managing teams and driving performance in asset management or surveying roles.

Knowledge and experience of managing disrepairs, damp, mould, condensation, insurance claims, structural issues, and delivering Stock Condition Surveys.

HNC/HND in Building Surveying or Building Studies/Construction or equivalent.

CIOB/RICS membership or working towards.

Full and valid UK Driving Licence.

Skills and Attributes:

Exceptional leadership skills, with a proven track record of managing and inspiring teams to achieve ambitious goals.

Strong understanding of construction and safety regulations, including HHSRS.

Customer-centric approach, excellent communication skills, and adept stakeholder management.

Commitment to improvement and innovation, both for the team and the organization, coupled with reliability and genuineness.

Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft applications and report writing.
