Job summary

Peterborough City Council seeks a Senior Building Control Surveyor to lead inspections, plan checks and enforcement actions across diverse developments. You will handle complex projects, mentor junior staff and use GIS, EDRMS and other digital tools to record inspections and produce high-quality reports.

You will hold a relevant qualification (HNC/HND or degree) and membership in CABE, RICS or CIOB, with registration with the Building Safety Regulator Class 2.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of current building regulations and private sector building control.
• Significant post-qualification experience, able to manage own caseload including enforcement and complex projects.
• Excellent negotiation, verbal and written communication; capable of producing clear reports and inspection records.

Responsibilities

• Process plans and carry out inspections to ensure compliance with building regulations, health and safety, and related legislation.
• Manage own caseload including enforcement, contraventions, demolitions and dangerous structures.
• Support complex commercial projects and contribute to reporting using digital systems like Building Control, Planning, EDRMS, and GIS.
