Job summary

Altera Recruitment Group is seeking a Senior Operations Technician for a biomethane/gas-to-grid facility in the Hull area. You will drive safe, reliable daily performance, oversee commissioning and transition from refurbishment, and lead the operations team through a 24/7 regime.

Ideal candidates will bring direct gas-to-grid or biomethane experience, hands-on leadership, and strong problem-solving skills to maintain stable production and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in gas-to-grid or biomethane upgrading for injection into the gas network.
• Previous role as Plant Manager/Team Leader with day-to-day responsibility.
• Strong technical/practical problem solving; interpret plant performance.
• Experience leading operational teams in energy/renewable sectors and commitment to safety.
• Flexible, hands-on, capable of 24/7 shift pattern including on-call.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe, efficient, reliable operation of the biomethane facility.
• Lead transition from refurbishment through commissioning to stable operation.
• Monitor plant performance and optimize efficiency and gas production.
• Develop site operations team with high health and safety standards.
• Manage day-to-day priorities, maintenance coordination, on-call support.
