We are looking for a passionate and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our Cellular Pathology team at Charing Cross Hospital. We are a hub of innovation, commitment, and excellence, and we invite you to embark on a rewarding journey with us.

What We Need from You?

  • HCPC registration and an MSc or higher qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience in diagnostic cytology, especially non-gynaecological
  • Proven competence in sample preparation and microscopic assessment

Main duties of the job
  • Provide expert cytological analysis, focusing on non-gynaecological samples including EBUS-TBNA
  • Support and perform Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) during EBUS procedures
  • Ensure accurate, timely reporting while adhering to quality standards
  • Support junior staff and contribute to training and professional development
  • Participate in audit, clinical governance, and service improvement initiatives
  • Assist in operational delivery of the Cellular Pathology service, working with laboratory managers and consultant histopathologists
  • Lead a team of scientific and support staff to deliver a diagnostic service that meets accreditation and regulatory standards, ensuring effective patient care and resource management

NWLP Induction

The NWLP induction occurs on the first Monday of each month (excluding bank holidays) and includes laboratory training relevant to the role. All new staff must attend within their first week.

  • Monday 1 September 2025
  • Monday 6 October 2025
  • Monday 3 November 2025
  • Monday 1 December 2025

This role is subject to a DBS check due to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.

Salary: £54,320 to £60,981 per annum, pro-rata where applicable.
