Job summary

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust invites applications for a Higher Level Biomedical Assistant in Microbiology. You will support diagnostic services by performing pre-analytical tasks, specimen handling, data entry onto Trust systems, and basic laboratory duties under supervision.

You will contribute to safe specimen processing, quality control and timely turnaround of results, while adhering to Trust policies, safety rules, and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Receipt, sorting, checking and preparation of specimens for testing in line with SOPs.
• Accurate entry of patient and specimen data onto Trust computerised systems with confidentiality.
• Handle telephone and face-to-face enquiries professionally and manage workload priorities.
• Support analyser maintenance and deliveries/dispatch of samples.
• Assist Biomedical Scientist staff with basic laboratory tasks under supervision.
• Contribute to staff training, appraisals and quality control activities.
