Job summary

Oxford Biotherapeutics (OBT) is seeking a senior bioinformatician to lead the mining and annotation of proprietary proteomics data for cancer therapeutics. You will interface with the commercial team, scope requests, and translate analyses into decisions that support partnering and portfolio strategy.

The role emphasizes organization, judgement and communication alongside a solid computational background. Office-based at the Oxford Science Park with regular cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related life science discipline.
• Knowledge of cancer biology and targeted cancer therapeutics is advantageous.
• Experience with proteomics, particularly mass spectrometry-based proteomics.

Responsibilities

• Attend and contribute to business and partnering discussions, following up on the analysis they generate.
• Scope and deliver analyses in response to requests from colleagues across the business, maintaining a clear view of the team's commitments.
• Prepare and present analysis summaries and supporting materials for internal decision‑making and external partner discussions.
• Manage the bioinformatics target discovery activity: plan, prioritise and direct the mining and annotation of the proteomics dataset to identify and verify candidate targets.
• Provide the analysis and recommendations that inform target selection and prioritisation.
• Carry out hands‑on analysis where needed to support the team.
• Oversee the quality, consistency and reproducibility of the target annotation produced by the team.
• Maintain and improve standard workflows, templates and documentation.
• Supervise target mining and annotation.
• Collaborate across the Bioinformatics team and with cross‑functional colleagues to support company goals.
• Confident, proactive communicator who translates questions into well‑scoped analyses and communicates results clearly to different audiences.
