Job summary

Tagomics, based at Babraham Research Campus near Cambridge, seeks a hands-on principal scientist to advance a novel multi-omic biomarker platform for drug safety monitoring. You will spend about 70% of your time coding and developing methods, and the rest collaborating with pharmaceutical partners and guiding technical strategy.

You will line-manage two senior bioinformaticians and review their work. This is a senior leadership role in a growing biotech team.

Qualifications

• PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in industry or academia.
• Hands-on coding with Python and/or R in analytical projects.
• Experience applying statistical modelling or machine-learning to complex data.
• Proven ability to set computational strategy and manage projects independently.
• Experience mentoring others and collaborating with external partners.

Responsibilities

• Develop, build and evaluate novel computational methods for epigenetic markers from cfDNA.
• Lead software development alongside the engineering team where existing tools fall short.
• Drive toxicity biomarker discovery and refinement.
• Translate findings into outputs that partners can act on and understand.
• Lead and coach two senior bioinformaticians; ensure reproducible methods.
• Present results to partner scientists and decision-makers.
