Job description

A major property maintenance service provider is seeking a Bid Team Lead to join their growing Bid function in London. As the Bid Team Lead you will be responsible for defining and executing high-level bid strategies to secure high value contracts, directly influencing business growth and competitive positioning.

This role oversees bid governance, ensures alignment with business objectives, and fosters a high-performance, strategically driven bid team. The postholder will engage at a senior level with key stakeholders, including board-level executives, to shape and refine the organisation’s bid pipeline, ensuring sustainable business success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, ensuring excellence in bid execution.
  • Enforce rigorous bid governance processes, ensuring submissions meet and exceed quality expectations.
  • Manage and prioritise workloads across multiple, high-value tenders, maintaining efficiency and performance.
  • Lead the development of innovative, compelling bid strategies that enhance win rates and long-term profitability.
  • Implement data-driven insights and best practices to enhance bid processes and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain a rolling bid pipeline, ensuring strategic prioritisation of high-value opportunities.
  • Work closely with financial and commercial teams to ensure bid pricing strategies maximise ROI.
  • Oversee budget and resource planning for the bid function, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Foster strategic partnerships with key clients to enhance the company’s market positioning.
  • Work closely with operational teams to develop bids that reflect deliverable, high-value service propositions.
  • Champion best practices and innovation across the bid function, driving process enhancements and efficiencies.
  • Introduce new tools, templates, and methodologies to enhance bid processes.
  • Benchmark bid performance against market leaders to identify improvement areas and emerging trends.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Extensive expertise in bid management and public-sector tendering for contracts exceeding £1M.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction, social housing, and maintenance sectors.
  • Advanced understanding of compliance, regulatory requirements, and procurement strategies.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to shape winning propositions aligned with financial objectives.
  • Strong leadership with experience managing senior bid professionals.
  • Ability to drive process transformation within the bid function.
  • Expertise in bid writing, storytelling, and persuasive proposal development.
  • Extensive experience managing and leading high-value, business-critical bids.
  • Proven track record of shaping and implementing winning bid strategies.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing executive-level stakeholders and clients.
  • Experience leading bid teams in a corporate, high-growth environment.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK to engage with key clients and stakeholders.
