Job summary

CPI is seeking Senior Research Scientists to join the Nanomaterials and Composites Team at the National Formulation Centre, Sedgefield. You will lead technical delivery on battery materials projects, drive process development, and mentor team members in a fast‑growing energy storage program.

Successful candidates will have strong electrochemistry and inorganic materials expertise, plus a track record of cross‑functional leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree or higher in a relevant scientific discipline (Materials science, Chemistry, Chemical engineering, or Physics).
• Significant experience in battery materials, electrochemistry, or inorganic materials development.
• Experience leading technical projects and solving complex scientific challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery across medium to large-scale customer and collaborative R&D projects.
• Act as a recognised technical expert in battery materials and related technologies.
• Develop and scale-up advanced battery materials and associated processes.
• Coach and mentor colleagues and contribute to capability growth.
