Job summary

FIS Banking Solutions UK Limited is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to build, operate and scale a new AI-enabled banking platform for Tier-1 institutions. You will own core banking capabilities, workflows, and compliance, delivering correct, auditable, and scalable services.

You will work in a startup-like autonomous team within a global, established fintech group, with strong emphasis on reliability, performance, and production ownership in a complex distributed system landscape.

Qualifications

• Deep experience designing and building complex distributed systems at scale.
• Strong knowledge of a strongly typed compiled language (Go preferred).
• Experience with event-driven architectures and Kafka or equivalent streaming platforms.
• Production on-call and incident response experience across boundaries in production.
• Observability, reliability engineering, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve banking platform capabilities—from products and accounts to transactions and compliance.
• Define reliable APIs, events, and data contracts that connect capabilities into a coherent, auditable platform.
• Own services through design, implementation, testing, deployment and operation.
• Improve engineering practices including automated testing, CI/CD, GitOps and safe deployment.
• Mentor and coach team, promoting engineering best practices across the organization.
