Job summary

Monzo is hiring Backend Engineers to join our squads across the UK. You’ll build and support parts of our in-house banking platform, collaborating with product managers, designers and data teams to deliver robust services.

You’ll work with Go, AWS, GCP and React in a distributed environment, shaping scalable systems and influencing customer outcomes with data-informed decisions. Flexible, remote-friendly UK roles welcome.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building backend services for a technology product.
• Product-minded; focus on customer outcomes and data-informed decisions.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and with distributed systems.
• Experience with strongly-typed languages (Go, Java, C, Scala etc.).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Go and related tech.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (PMs, designers, data engineers).
• Design and scale distributed systems to support Monzo’s banking platform.
• Participate in technical interviews and contribute to engineering excellence.
