Job summary

DFYNE is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own and scale backend platforms, improve reliability and performance, and contribute to architectural decisions. You will work with Product, Engineering and Operations teams, helping to raise technical standards across the engineering function.

You’ll join a hands-on team focused on delivering robust software that supports DFYNE’s growth and customer impact, with opportunities for mentorship and technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Significant commercial backend engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
• Strong TypeScript or Python development experience.
• Experience building and operating production systems at scale.
• Distributed systems and API design understanding.
• Experience with relational databases and query optimization.
• Cloud environments experience, ideally Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience supporting production services and operational environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Proven ability to deliver business-critical software.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
• Own critical production systems and ensure reliability, performance and maintainability.
• Take ownership of existing platforms, gaining a deep understanding and improving reliability, performance and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and operational issues.
• Participate in incident response and post-incident learning activities.
• Support architectural decisions that improve scalability and resilience.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering and Operational stakeholders.
• Contribute to engineering standards, code review practices, release discipline and software delivery best practice.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and support team development.
• Improve observability, monitoring and operational visibility.
• Identify and address technical debt and system risks.
• Support integrations with third-party services, logistics partners and business systems.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across engineering processes.
