Job summary

First Orion is hiring an experienced Backend Engineer to own core microservices across our platform. You will work on call treatment orchestration, brand data, analytics, and billing within a hexagonal, event‑driven architecture.

We seek 5+ years in backend or software engineering, strong Java 21 and Spring Boot experience, and proficiency with PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kafka. This is a distributed, collaborative role with regional flexibility in the UK or UAE.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend or software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Java 21.
• Experience building services with Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience working with Redis and Kafka.
• Understanding of microservice and event-driven architecture.
• Experience designing, building, testing, and supporting production services.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, distributed environment.

Responsibilities

• Build, enhance, and own core microservices across the First Orion platform.
• Develop services supporting call treatment orchestration, brand data, analytics, and billing.
• Design and implement solutions using hexagonal and event‑driven architecture patterns.
• Build scalable, reliable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Work with relational databases, caching technologies, and event-streaming platforms.
• Contribute to technical design decisions and help improve reliability and maintainability of services.
• Troubleshoot issues and support services throughout the development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with distributed engineering teams to deliver high‑quality solutions.
