Xe.com is hiring a senior backend engineer in Bracknell to own problems end-to-end, from API design and data modeling through to service implementation, production reliability, and launch. You will use AI tools daily and help move money across platforms.

You'll design and modernize backend services, lead cross-functional delivery with product, compliance, and operations, mentor engineers, and collaborate with architects on cross-domain decisions.

Qualifications

• 6 to 10+ years building production backend services.
• Strong backend proficiency in C# / .NET; other OOP languages welcome.
• SQL and relational database fundamentals.
• Writing and maintaining tests.
• Daily use of agentic coding tools across the SDLC.
• Production experience with AWS, including CI/CD and AWS services.
• Strong system design and architecture experience (SOA/microservices).
• Payments, FX, or regulated-industry experience.
• Track record of technical leadership: mentoring engineers and architecture decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and own backend services that move money and manage multi-currency balances across domains.
• Lead cross-functional delivery with product, compliance, and operations from problem framing through launch.
• Lead the build of partner integrations and settlement infrastructure.
• Own production health for your domain: reliability, observability, on-call, incident response.
• Lead design reviews, set technical direction, and mentor mid-level engineers.
• Use agentic coding tools daily and drive modernization alongside architects and team leads.
