Job summary

Navan in London is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive the technical vision, architecture, and execution for a highly available, new specialty Travel platform. You will design and scale microservices, build front-end micro front ends, mentor engineers, and lead cross-functional initiatives from conception to production, balancing rapid delivery with long-term reliability and global scalability.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience in scalable, distributed production systems.
• Backend engineering expertise in Java, TypeScript/Node.js, Python, or Go (or VM-based languages).
• Front-end exposure with React or Angular is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Architect Core Backend Systems: design, build, and scale high-performance microservices.
• Build Micro Front Ends: design and build clean UI components for users.
• Lead Technical Initiatives: drive cross-functional engineering projects from conception to deployment.
• Optimize Performance & Reliability: ensure low latency, high availability, and robust data pipelines.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: work with product, data, and platform teams to translate requirements into solutions.
• Raise the Engineering Bar: mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, and promote strong operational ownership.
