Job summary

Callen-Lenz in Salisbury, UK, seeks a Principal Avionics Engineer to deliver avionic systems engineering outputs within a broader systems engineering team. You will provide technical leadership across design, development and integration of control, navigation, communication, aircraft management and C2 systems.

The role requires a degree in engineering/science, strong English, and experience in aerospace systems engineering, including integration tasks and report writing.

Qualifications

• A BSc or Masters Honours degree in an Engineering or Science subject.
• Essential: proficiency in English and demonstrable systems engineering knowledge.
• Knowledge of applied system engineering principles.
• Competent in practical integration tasks using software or hardware-based rigs.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; strong report writing abilities.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver avionic systems engineering outputs within a wider systems engineering team.
• Provide technical leadership over design, development and integration of control, navigation, comms, aircraft management and C2 systems.
• Lead engineering involvement with projects, interfacing with stakeholders.
• Develop and improve internal processes and procedures.
• Supervise and support other engineers across projects.
• Ensure airworthiness, safety and certification requirements are met where applicable.
• Capture, derive and manage requirements; design and develop avionics for UAS (navigation, comms, payloads, C2).
• Integrate systems with power, fuel and payloads; estimate resources and budgets.
