Job summary

BakerHicks in London is seeking a Senior/Principal Architect with a strong aviation background to lead design development across major airports and aviation facilities.

You'll mentor teams, maintain technical quality and compliance, and collaborate with clients and specialists throughout the project lifecycle, with oversight of RIBA stages 0–7 and security-clearance considerations where required.

Qualifications

• Registered Architect (RIBA/ARB).
• Experience delivering aviation projects and understanding Heathrow/Gatwick standards.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to simplify ideas.
• Proven ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Extensive design, detailing and specification writing experience.
• Experience contributing to bids, proposals and tender specifications.
• Familiar with British Standards and Eurocodes for architectural design and sustainability.
• Able to organise a team to develop designs from RIBA 0 through 7.
• High proficiency in Revit; working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide architectural design services and consultancy under line management.
• Produce design deliverables (drawings, specs, reports), surveys and site duties.
• Check detailed drawings for quality and compliance with briefs.
• Conduct design and technical reviews, peer audits of designs.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams for safe, efficient, buildable solutions.
• Assist in enquiry plans, tender reviews, fee estimates, scopes of work and change controls.
• Liaise with customers, end-users and professionals on feasibility, constraints and budgets.
• Direct, coordinate and exercise authority for project planning, organisation and delivery.
• Input to cost management of further works and resource planning.
