Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking an Electronic Hardware Specialist in the Nuneaton area. You will architect next‑generation braking and steering electronics, lead hardware development and validation, and ensure safety, compliance and system integration across cross‑functional teams.

The role requires senior engineering experience in automotive electronics, with emphasis on ECUs, sensors, power electronics and PCB design. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing ECUs, sensors and actuator control systems.
  • Knowledge of automotive communication networks and PCB design.
  • Familiarity with hardware safety, compliance and verification processes.

Responsibilities

  • Architect scalable hardware architectures for braking and steering electronics.
  • Lead hardware development and validation activities across the lifecycle.
  • Ensure ISO 26262 compliance and hardware safety analysis.
  • Collaborate with software and controls teams for system integration.
  • Drive design reviews, prototype bring-up and issue resolution.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.
