Job summary

IQVIA is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist for the Sample Management team at our Cambridge site. The role blends hands-on laboratory work with technical leadership, automation development and continuous improvement to advance drug discovery workflows.

You will design, develop and optimize automated sample handling methods, mentor colleagues and collaborate across scientists, engineers and IT to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Significant laboratory experience in sample management or related field.
• Experience developing, optimizing and troubleshooting laboratory methods/workflows.
• Strong problem-solving and independent working skills.
• Excellent communication and knowledge sharing ability.
• Ability to mentor, coach and develop colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimize automated liquid and sample handling methods.
• Troubleshoot complex technical, workflow and equipment challenges.
• Translate scientific requirements into robust, scalable automated processes.
• Work with state-of-the-art laboratory automation technologies and platforms.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency and throughput.
• Mentor and train colleagues to build technical capability across the team.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, IT specialists and vendors to deliver innovative solutions.
• Contribute to future technology planning and strategic direction of the function.
