Job summary

ISS is seeking a seasoned Authorising Engineer to oversee cross-discipline appointments and competency across the UK. Qualifications

• Current or recent Authorising Engineer in at least two disciplines, including electrical.
• Strong experience of electrical safe systems of work, including isolation, switching, permits and control.
• Technical competence in a second discipline with broad engineering knowledge.
• Good knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, standards and guidance.
• Experience assessing competence, managing authorisations and records.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams across sites or accounts.
• Strong auditing, investigation, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as an Authorising Engineer in at least two disciplines, including electrical, providing oversight and advice on safe systems of work.
• Maintain and improve UK authorisation standards, safety rules, procedures and assurance processes.
• Lead and coordinate Account Authorising Engineers with consistent application of the framework.
• Oversee competency assessments, appointments, reviews and records for Authorised Persons.
• Ensure training, assessment and appointment activities are completed within timescales.
• Deliver technical audits, assurance reviews and competency assessments across UK accounts.
• Investigate incidents, identify trends and drive continuous improvement in safety and compliance.
• Support clients, operations and projects with expert guidance on engineering risk and high-risk activities.
