Job summary

Slaters Electricals Limited (Sheffield Branch) is seeking a Senior Authorised Person to lead HV/LV installations and maintenance on local and UK-wide projects. You will manage switching, safety paperwork, testing, and commissioning while overseeing on-site teams in a dynamic industrial environment.

The role requires current HV 33kV authorisation, City & Guilds 18th Edition, and formal SEN AP training, with supervisory experience essential for project delivery and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Act as the designated Senior Authorised Person for installation, maintenance and operation of HV/LV electrical systems.
• Carry out operational switching on HV networks up to 33kV.
• Produce, review and implement HV switching schedules.
• Issue, control and cancel safety documents, permits to work and certificates in accordance with Safe Systems of Work.
• Carry out or supervise safe isolation, switching and reinstatement of electrical systems.
• Perform testing of HV/LV cables, switchgear, transformers and associated electrical apparatus.

Responsibilities

• Act as Senior Authorised Person for HV/LV installations and maintenance across projects.
• Supervise HV/LV switching, isolation, and reinstatement activities.
• Prepare and approve safety documents, permits to work and certificates.
• Test and commissioning of HV/LV equipment including cables, switchgear and transformers.
• Coordinate installation and commissioning of HV/LV systems on site.
• Provide supervisory guidance and training where required.

We offer an attractive mixture of local work through our relationships with major South Yorkshire industrial customers and national project work installing and maintaining power & distribution transformers and switchgear for our Newcastle HQ, who are a leading independent supplier of new and refurbished LV, MV & HV power distribution equipment established for over 100 years.

Due to continued business growth, we are recruiting a Senior Authorised Person for our Installation & Contracting division in Sheffield. Working on a variety of local and UK-wide projects, applicants should possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Act as the designated Senior Authorised Person for the installation, maintenance and operation of HV and LV electrical systems.
• Carry out operational switching on HV networks up to 33kV

• Install, terminate and test large LV single-core and multicore power cables

• Install cable containment systems including tray, ladder, trunking and conduit
• Install, inspect and test earthing systems
• Diagnose and rectify electrical faults on HV/LV distribution systems
• Supervisory experience
• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
• City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing (or equivalent)
• Formal Senior Authorised Person/Authorised Person training and certification
• Current HV Authorisation up to 33kV (or demonstrable experience suitable for authorisation review)
