Job summary

Defence seeks a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) with HV/LV Electrical Systems expertise to lead safety-critical operations in high-hazard environments and ensure Safe Systems of Work are robust and compliant.

In this role you will provide technical leadership, support compliance initiatives, and shape JSP 375-aligned electrical safety standards across a nationally important portfolio while mentoring other Authorised Persons and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Current Senior Authorised Person (SAP) certification in HV/LV Electrical Systems.
• HNC/HND in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) improvement programmes across operational sites.
• Develop and maintain electrical safety standards in line with JSP 375.
• Provide technical guidance to Authorised Persons and operational teams.
• Assist with internal audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
• Support the closure of audit findings and drive corrective actions.
• Mentor, train and develop current and aspiring Authorised Persons.
• Act as the electrical safety lead for projects requiring Senior Authorised Person input.
• Promote best practice and a strong safety culture throughout the organisation.

Senior Authorised Person (HV/LV Electrical Systems)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to join a highly respected organisation operating within the UK defence and engineering sector.

This role offers the chance to play a pivotal part in the safe delivery of operations across complex, high-hazard environments, ensuring Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) are robust, compliant, and consistently applied.

Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering and operational teams, you will provide technical leadership, support compliance initiatives, and help shape safety standards across a nationally important portfolio.

The Role

As a Senior Authorised Person, you will serve as a key subject matter expert for electrical safety and high-hazard operations, supporting site teams whilst driving continuous improvement in compliance and operational safety.

You will work closely with Authorised Persons, Facilities Managers, Project Teams, and operational stakeholders to ensure all activities are delivered safely and in accordance with JSP 375 requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Significant experience operating as a Senior Authorised Person or within an electrical safety leadership role.
• Strong working knowledge of JSP 375 and Authorised Person frameworks.
• Experience managing Safe Systems of Work within high-hazard or regulated environments.
• The ability to provide technical guidance on complex electrical and operational issues.
• Experience supporting compliance audits, inspections, and assurance activities.
• Demonstrable experience of health, safety and statutory compliance leadership.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
