Salary/Rate: £32,115 to £36,124

Company Introduction:
My client, an upper tier Local Authority in a non-metropolitan county in the Southwest of England, is seeking to expand its team due to a Council restructure. They are currently looking to hire two senior auditors: one for an immediate start and the other to join in July.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives:

• Independently evaluating the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance arrangements at IA & RMSS partner organisations.
• Negotiating, influencing, and positively challenging staff at a senior level, as well as Members, of partner organisations and external clients on technical and business matters.
• Acting in alignment with current professional standards and proper internal audit practices, including the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards 2017.
• Keeping the Principal Auditor, Group Manager, and Head of the Shared Service informed on all key audit issues.

Required Skills/Experience:
The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Experience of working with an Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) preferably SAP.
• Practical experience of using electronic assurance systems e.g. GALILEO, IDEA.
• Experience of and effective application of risk based internal auditing to produce robust evidence-based conclusions and recommendations.
• Knowledge, skills or experience in Internal Audit and Risk Management

Desirable Skills/Experience:
Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:

• Experience of leading audits and undertaking strategic reviews, with minimal supervision.
• Fully qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or the Institute of Internal Auditors (PIIA or CIA) or other relevant equivalent qualification.
• Experience of fraud and irregularity investigations.
• Ability to think strategically and to see the bigger picture across the IA & RMSS partner organisations and external clients service areas.
