Job summary

TLT Solicitors seeks a Senior Associate to join its Real Estate Future Energy team, with bases in Bristol, Belfast, Birmingham or Manchester. The role requires 3–7 years of post-qualification experience in real estate, with an interest in the future energy sector.

You will handle drafting, due diligence, and financing on clean energy projects, manage client relationships, and contribute to business development within a collaborative, high-performing team.

Qualifications

• A Qualified Solicitor able to work independently with limited supervision.
• 3–7 years post-qualification experience within real estate, energy sector experience desirable.
• Forward thinker with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills; self-motivated to manage workloads and deadlines.
• Commercially aware with some exposure to business development; maintains strong client relationships.
• Understands client needs and acts in the best interest of the firm and client.
• Able to contribute to a collaborative culture and develop junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Drafting option agreements and leases for clean energy projects (wind, solar, storage, EVs, hydro).
• Undertaking due diligence including title review, enquiries and searches.
• Assisting in project financing and large-scale acquisitions/disposals with cross‑discipline collaboration.
• Managing own files with client contact and early responsibility for delivery of transactions.
• Providing support across landlord/tenant, corporate, and public sector work.
• Maintaining quality service in line with firm procedures.
• Building client relationships and spotting business development opportunities.
• Working towards the firm’s budget and targets.

We are recruiting for a Senior Associate to join our Real Estate Future Energy team, to be based in Bristol, Belfast, Birmingham or Manchester. Maria Connolly leads the team and heads the Real Estate Group; she continues to be the energy behind our success in driving forward our strategy of developing the services we offer to clients in the renewables sector and tailoring those services to meet our clients' business objectives. Maria has previously been awarded with Bristol Law Society's "Lawyer of the Year" award and is named as a Leading Individual in the Legal 500.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Real Estate Lawyer to join our Legal 500 tier 1 ranked team and develop a specialism within one of the most exciting and topical sectors in the legal profession and beyond.

Your Role

• Dealing with drafting option agreements and leases on a wide range of clean energy projects (including wind, solar, battery storage, electric vehicles, and hydro).
• Undertaking due diligence on these projects to include a review of title, enquiries, and searches.
• Acting in relation to the financing of clean energy projects and large-scale acquisitions/disposals which will involve working with individuals in our corporate, banking, construction, planning and regulatory disciplines.
• There will be plenty of opportunity for client contact, running own files and early responsibility for delivery of transactions etc.
• Providing support in relation to other aspects of work undertaken in the team including landlord and tenant work, corporate support, and public sector work.
• To provide all our clients with a quality service in accordance with the Firm's procedures.
• To maintain and improve relations with existing clients and spot opportunities for business development and enhancement of the current services we offer.
• To achieve the budget and targets set by the Firm.

Your Skills and Experience

• You will be/have: A Qualified Solicitor, with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• 3 - 7 years of post-qualification experience within real estate. Ideally, you will have experience working with clients in the future energy sector, however, we encourage those with a keen interest to specialise in this sector to apply.
• A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines.
• Commercially aware with some exposure to business development, with the ability to maintain and nurture strong client relationships.
• Able to develop a deep understanding of your client's business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client.
• Able to contribute to our collaborative culture, with an ambition to assist in the development of junior team members.
