Job summary

Hoare Lea is seeking an Associate / Senior Associate Mechanical Engineer to join the Data Centre & Mission Critical team. You will lead mechanical design delivery across data centre projects, from feasibility studies through commissioning and handover.

In this senior role you will work closely with clients, drive technical reports and specifications, and mentor engineers while delivering high‑quality, resilient, and energy‑efficient data-centre solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering mission-critical and data centre projects.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water and heat rejection systems.
• Experience with Revit, BIM workflows and AutoCAD.
• Strong client-facing consultancy experience.
• Excellent technical judgement and a collaborative mindset.
• Experience mentoring and supporting others.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design delivery for data centre projects.
• Act as a senior client-facing engineer across design teams.
• Prepare and review specifications, reports and deliverables.
• Support site appraisals, feasibility, masterplanning and test-fits.
• Oversee plant design, commissioning, handover and optimisation.
• Support fee, resource and project delivery management.
• Mentor and develop engineers, apprentices and graduates.
