A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our Employment practice as a Senior Associate at our Derby head office.

Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of complex employment matters, including conducting own advocacy where appropriate.
- Lead on team development and mentoring, drive business development, and handle more complex fee-earning matters.
- Report directly to the Head of Employment; assist with setting team strategy and managing performance against financial and team targets.
- Provide ongoing technical support on matters for more junior fee-earners and keep personal Employment knowledge up to date with new developments.
Fee-Earning
- Manage a varied caseload of complex matters.
- Provide employment law advice to education and commercial clients.
- Draft advice reports and support clients with processes and documents such as settlement agreements.
- Assist clients with HR processes and procedures.
- Handle cases through tribunal proceedings.
- Provide support on employment issues arising in transactions.
- Balance personal workload with departmental capacity and take on additional workload when required.
- Provide ongoing technical support to more junior fee-earners.
Assisting Management
- Attend monthly fee-earner meetings and contribute as a senior team member.
- Attend regular one-to-one meetings with the Head of Employment; report on departmental priorities and financial performance as necessary.
- Supervise matters for more junior fee-earners and sign off work as required.
- Ensure appropriate allocation of fee-earning matters within the team; regularly assess capacity and delegate work effectively under the Head of Employment.
- Work to drive team performance and conduct meetings with more junior fee-earners where necessary.
Business Development
- Take an active lead in managing the client experience and attend client meetings as needed.
- Assist the Head of Employment to ensure a seamless and proactive renewal process for existing clients.
- Prepare and conduct external training sessions on employment law for prospective and existing clients.
- Report regularly on business development figures to senior management.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience of dealing with contentious and non-contentious employment law matters.
- Knowledge and experience of tribunal procedures and protocols.
- High level of knowledge and understanding of employment law for high-profile clients.
- Exceptional client care skills.
- Highly motivated and able to add value to the role.
- Demonstrated proactive management of matters.
- Networking and client development skills.
