Job summary

Secretariat in London (Greater London) is seeking a seasoned Construction Delay Analyst to join our delay team. You will review schedules, drawings, reports, and weather data to quantify delays on large-scale projects.

You will produce expert reports for arbitration, collaborate with engineers and planners, and translate complex technical matters into clear English for non-technical audiences. Travel up to 15% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least five years’ post-graduate work experience, ideally in engineering & construction, within professional services would be an advantage.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience using planning software such as MS Project, Asta Powerproject or Primavera is an advantage.
  • Excellent written English.
  • An understanding of the relevant industry protocols is preferred.
  • Fluency in another language is preferred.
  • An aptitude for communicating complex, technical matters to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to travel as needed (generally under 15% of the time but may vary).
  • Flexible and able to work as a member of a team

Responsibilities

  • Research and fact-finding.
  • Data analysis of large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and the potential causes of cost and schedule overruns.
  • Quantification of delays in large-scale construction projects.
  • Assisting with the drafting of expert reports for use in arbitration.
