Job description

A Vacancy at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Band 3 SATO – Rotational

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 3 Senior Assistant Technical Officer (SATO) to join our medicines optimisation team. The ideal candidate will currently be an Assistant Technical Officer, preferably with hospital experience, and eager to expand their role and knowledge. Excellent organisational and communication skills, attention to detail, and a good understanding of pharmacy IT systems are essential for this role.

Your duties will include:

  1. Managing the daily operations of the satellite dispensing unit.
  2. Ensuring rapid TTO turnaround to maintain patient flow.
  3. Assisting with reporting high-cost medicines used within the directorate to facilitate timely reimbursement from commissioners.
  4. Supporting ward-based pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in maintaining the outsourced blister pack service.
  5. Participating in dispensary duties on a rota system.
  6. Participating in late evening, weekend, and bank holiday rotas.

With nearly 9,000 dedicated staff, they are the largest healthcare provider in southwest London. Their main site, St George’s Hospital in Tooting, is a principal teaching hospital shared with St George’s, University of London, which trains medical students and conducts advanced medical research. The hospital also hosts the Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences, training healthcare professionals from across the region.

The trust provides a range of acute hospital services, specialist care, and community services to a diverse patient population. They serve a catchment area of 1.3 million in southwest London, with additional coverage for populations from Surrey, Sussex, and southeast England, including specialized services like cardiothoracic surgery, neurosciences, renal transplantation, and more. They also operate a nationwide endoscopy training centre.
