Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust in Burton-upon-Trent is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Assistant to join the Pharmacy Services team and support in delivering high quality pharmacy services to patients and staff.

You will work as part of the Senior Pharmacy Assistant Team, with responsibilities including dispensing prescriptions, handling reception duties, and ensuring ward top ups and expiry dating are correctly managed.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a customer facing role, ideally NHS
  • Ability to use automated/electronic systems
  • Knowledge of pharmacy services and processes

Responsibilities

We are looking for someone to become a member of our Senior Pharmacy Assistant Team, where you will provide support in delivering a high quality service to all Pharmacy customers.

This position would suit someone with a keen eye for detail and who is able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including other healthcare professionals and members of the public. You will be a good team player, enthusiastic and proactive with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Main duties of the job

Working in the pharmacy at Queens Hospital, Burton -

  • Labelling and dispensing inpatient and outpatient prescriptions and discharge medication.
  • Meeting and greeting customers/staff/patients at the reception hatch, accepting outpatient prescriptions and taking prescription charges.
  • Completing ward top ups and expiry dating.
  • You will be required to complete a GPhC-approved Level 2 Pharmacy course.
