As a Senior Asset Engineer, you will lead the structures asset management processes for a structures management area based on condition, capability, value, and sustainable delivery of route, regulatory, and corporate targets. - Lead the area structures engineering input to the structures asset management process in accordance with functional policy to achieve financial and output targets. Develop an efficient, prioritized route structures assessment programme.
- Provide structures engineering expertise to the team.
- Manage scheduling of examination, inspection, monitoring, and assessment of structures assets, and evaluate reports in accordance with policies, systems, and standards. Oversee mitigation measures for deferred asset management actions.
- Develop interim mitigations and permanent interventions for structures with sub-standard strength.
- Monitor trends from structures assessment work, asset capability, risk assessments, and failure precursors.
- Manage the production and prioritization of structures asset maintenance, strengthening, and renewal plans, acting as Sponsor and overseeing development and implementation of work items. Serve as Client’s Representative and Designer under CDM for renewal schemes.
- Analyze, assess risks, and mitigate issues on sensitive assets, implementing measures to minimize adverse impacts on corporate targets. Monitor asset trend data and failure precursors to inform management plans.
- Support the specification and development of enhancement schemes.
- Coordinate with the central structures team to develop best practices and review policies and standards.
- Determine mitigation actions for adverse weather impacts on structures.
- Manage structures asset data within company systems.
- Lead initiatives for strategic direction in buildings & civils, contributing to the CP5 bid process and negotiations with regulatory bodies.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Support investigations of incidents related to structures.
- Participate in engineering verification activities for the national verification programme.
- Review proposals from other disciplines or external organizations impacting structures assets or work programmes, identifying synergies or conflicts.
- Support review and approval processes for abnormal loads.
- Control technical development of projects, ensuring renewal requirements are met and designs are approved.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Incorporated Engineer
- Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent
- Membership of a relevant professional institution
- Extensive experience in railway civil engineering, with proven abilities in structures, maintenance, and renewals
- Knowledge of structures engineering policies and standards
- Understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
