Job summary

NHS Derby is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Technician Aseptic Trainer to lead the aseptic training programme within the Royal Derby Hospital’s Pharmacy Department. The role focuses on developing and delivering training for staff working in aseptic units handling injectable medicines, ensuring high standards and regulatory compliance.

You will support the senior team, coordinate training activities, and drive competency assessments while covering duties across shifts as required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with aseptic training and injectable medicines.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training programmes.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management, development and delivery of the aseptic training programme and support staff ensuring standardisation of practice and learning.
  • Support the Deputy Production Manager - Aseptic Training Lead and Accountable Pharmacist with the development and implementation of aseptic-related materials.
  • Support the management team in delivering relevant technical aspects of training to all staff groups, within aseptic areas.
  • Organise training programmes to ensure that all staff involved in service delivery are trained and competency assessed on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for reviewing and updating aseptic-related training and validation material.
  • Create a culture in which learning and personal development is valued and can identify development needs in others and support and coach new staff and staff undertaking training to meet their training needs.
  • Assist the management team with the recruitment of Pharmacy technical services operators.
  • Responsible for carrying out and documenting risk assessments within managed section in relation to the development of new training packages.
  • Responsible for the collection and presentation of quality indicators for technician and support staff training.
  • To cover, where appropriate, in the absence of the other Training Leads.
  • Participate in the departmental out of hours service delivery, which requires weekend, late night and B/ H rostered working.
