Job summary

RSK Group is seeking a Senior Project Officer on a fixed-time (6-month) contract with hybrid home/office-based work. Roles may be based at Romsey, Boxworth or Derby and involve fieldwork and client liaison in archaeology and environmental consultancy.

Key duties include directing large-scale projects, producing reports and risk assessments, and maintaining high standards. Applicants should have 10+ years in commercial archaeology, ACIfA/CIfA accreditation, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in commercial archaeological fieldwork.
• ACIfA accreditation or higher with CIfA.
• Excellent communication and motivational skills.
• Proven ability in archaeological recording techniques and DGPS surveying.
• Experience in Health and Safety documentation, WSIs and grey literature mitigation reports.
• Proven ability for archaeological supervision of plant.
• Ability to perform manual outdoor work in all weathers.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Safety training such as CAT, Genny, SSSTS, etc.
• Experience presenting results to professional and lay audiences.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Degree level education or higher in a relevant subject.

Responsibilities

• Direct complex and large-scale archaeological projects through fieldwork and publication.
• Direct geoarchaeological fieldwork with our geoarchaeologist.
• Produce WSIs, fieldwork reports and project archives per legislation and standards.
• Liaise with ADAS staff, subcontractors, contractors, curators and the public.
• Represent ADAS Archaeology professionally at all times.
• Ensure health, safety and wellbeing policies are followed on site.
• Produce risk assessments and site audits as required.
• Deliver work on time, to budget and to high archaeological standards.
