Job summary

Dalcour Maclaren is recruiting a Senior Archaeology and Built Heritage Consultant to join our expanding team in Stirling, Scotland. You will work within the Archaeology and Built Heritage Team to prepare DBAs, EIA chapters, and fieldwork programmes, and oversee clerk of works activities on diverse projects.

We seek candidates with about 5 years of experience, UK legislation knowledge, and membership in CIfA/IHBC or willingness to join.

Qualifications

• An understanding of the drivers of UK commercial archaeology, specifically legislation and guidance.
• c5 years of practical experience in commercial archaeology, consultancy or built heritage.
• Full clean UK Driving licence.
• Membership of CIfA (Associate or Member) or IHBC, or willingness to join.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Excellent team working skills with initiative.
• Working knowledge of MS Office and a GIS package.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Interest in Historic Building Recording, Geoarchaeology or clerk of works on larger projects.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within the Archaeology and Built Heritage Team and the Environment & Planning Team.
• Prepare Archaeological DBAs and Built Heritage Statements and EIA chapters.
• Design and develop fieldwork programmes across sectors withWSI and Mitigation Strategies.
• Source and commission archaeological fieldwork and surveys.
• Oversee site works as a Clerk of Works.
• Coordinate consultations with curators, stakeholders, clients and contractors.
• Report on small scale field work.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members.
• Prepare fee proposals and manage project budgets and deadlines.
