Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior Arboricultural Consultant to lead the delivery of arboricultural services across a portfolio of projects, ensuring high-quality outputs and excellent client service. You will work with multidisciplinary teams and take ownership of technical delivery.

You will mentor junior colleagues, support NSIP and infrastructure projects, and contribute to proposals and fee estimates, while maintaining rigorous health and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within arboricultural consultancy.
• Proven experience delivering BS5837 surveys and reports.
• A Level 3 Arboriculture qualification or higher.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities, deadlines and budgets.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience supporting, mentoring or reviewing the work of junior colleagues.
• A strong understanding of health and safety requirements, site risk management and safe survey practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of BS5837 surveys and reporting.
• Prepare Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA), Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS), Tree Protection Plans (TPP) and technical reports.
• Manage survey logistics, programming, resourcing and quality assurance across project workstreams.
• Provide clear and practical arboricultural advice to design teams, supporting tree retention, mitigation strategies and construction feasibility.
• Support the delivery of arboricultural inputs for NSIPs.
• Mentor apprentices, assistants and consultants through technical review, coaching and professional development support.
• Contribute to proposals, tenders and fee estimates, including scope definition, assumptions and exclusions.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, project managers, stakeholders and consultees.
