Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Arboricultural Consultant to lead the delivery of arboricultural services across varied projects in the UK. You will ensure high-quality outputs, manage teams and keep projects on track with strong client service.

You will mentor apprentices and junior staff, deliver AIA/AMS/TPP reports, and contribute to proposals while maintaining safe survey practices and robust risk management.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within arboricultural consultancy.
• Proven experience delivering BS5837 surveys and reports.
• A Level 3 Arboriculture qualification or higher.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities, deadlines and budgets.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience supporting, mentoring or reviewing the work of junior colleagues.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements, site risk management and safe survey practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of BS5837 surveys and reporting.
• Prepare Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA), Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS), Tree Protection Plans (TPP) and technical reports.
• Manage survey logistics, programming, resourcing and quality assurance across project workstreams.
• Provide clear and practical arboricultural advice to design teams, supporting tree retention, mitigation strategies and construction feasibility.
• Support the delivery of arboricultural inputs for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
• Mentor apprentices, assistants and consultants through technical review, coaching and professional development support.
• Contribute to proposals, tenders and fee estimates, including scope definition, assumptions and exclusions.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, project managers, stakeholders and consultees.
