Senior ARB Project Architect

Based in London Full time position(Hybrid Working)

£45,000 - £54,000 pa

A growing London-based architectural practice is seeking a highly experienced and confident Senior Project Architect to take a leading role across a diverse portfolio of residential-led projects. This is a senior position for an accomplished Architect who can independently run projects from early concept through to completion, while playing a key role within a collaborative, design-focused studio.

Working on a hybrid basis (4 days in the office, 1 day wfh), the successful candidate will join a practice known for delivering thoughtful, high-quality architecture across both new-build and retrofit residential schemes, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and technical excellence.

This role is ideally suited to an Architect who thrives in a project leadership capacity-someone comfortable taking ownership, managing complexity, and driving outcomes across design, technical delivery, and client engagement.

The Role

The Senior Project Architect will act as the key project lead across multiple schemes, overseeing all stages of delivery in line with the RIBA Plan of Work. They will be responsible for guiding projects from briefing and concept design through planning, technical development, procurement, and construction on site.

A strong focus will be placed on leadership, coordination, and delivery, including managing multidisciplinary consultant teams, maintaining program and quality control, and ensuring commercially aware decision-making throughout.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead architectural projects independently from inception to completion
  • Act as primary client contact and manage stakeholder relationships
  • Coordinate and lead consultant teams including structural, MEP, planning and sustainability specialists
  • Oversee design development, technical delivery, and construction-stage coordination

  • Contribute to the wider growth and success of the practice
About You

This position requires a fully qualified ARB Registered Architect with a minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in residential development, including both new-build and retrofit schemes, alongside a strong understanding of UK planning, procurement, and construction processes.

A solid working knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work is essential, as is demonstrable experience leading projects across all stages independently.

Essential Experience & Skills
  • ARB Registered Architect
  • Minimum 10 years post-qualification experience
  • Strong track record delivering residential projects (new build and retrofit)
  • Experience as a project runner with full end-to-end delivery responsibility
  • Excellent understanding of UK planning, technical design, and construction processes
  • Proven ability to manage schedules, risk, quality, and delivery
  • Confident client-facing and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams
  • Advanced proficiency in ArchiCAD (primary BIM platform)
  • Ability to independently manage project information within ArchiCAD
Desirable Attributes
  • Experience in high-quality, design-led or sustainability-focused projects
  • Strong technical detailing and construction knowledge
  • Experience mentoring junior team members
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project resourcing and profitability
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong team contribution
Interview process

There will be a few stages to this interview, from a phone call to in person interview, and applicants are requested to submit details of 3-5 completed projects where they acted as Lead Project Architect. This can be shown in portfolio samples and ideally would include:

  • RIBA stages delivered
  • Team size managed (including sole practitioner roles if applicable)
  • Procurement route
  • Level of involvement with ArchiCAD on each project

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and capable Project Architect seeking a senior leadership role within a growing, design-driven practice delivering meaningful residential architecture in London.
