The Alan Turing Institute is seeking a Senior Applied Engineer to own end-to-end analytics tooling from problem definition to delivery. You’ll work with defence analysts on-site, turning exploratory analysis into reliable services and data products used by non-technical users.

You will mentor colleagues, shape testing and documentation standards, and translate complex statistics into actionable insights. A fixed-term role with competitive benefits is offered.

Formación

• Experience building analytics or data products used by non-technical users.
• Ability to turn exploratory analysis into tested, deployable services.
• Strong Python software engineering: testing and version control.
• Ability to work with end users to iterate on requirements.

Responsabilidades

• Work directly with Defence analysts on-site to understand requirements and build analytical tools.
• Identify recurring analytical requests and develop event-driven processes that update results as data becomes available.
• Develop prototypes quickly and turn them into tested, monitored, and deployable services on the data platform.
• Apply statistical and data-science judgement and communicate uncertainty clearly to non-specialist users.
• Build analyst-facing interfaces (dashboards, notebooks, CLI tools, small web apps) using team data products.
