Job summary

Preply is hiring a Senior Principal Applied AI Scientist to lead AI-driven personalized learning solutions and shape the scientific roadmap. You will architect state-of-the-art models and systems impacting millions of learners worldwide, reporting to the VP of Data and Applied AI.

You will drive R&D in deep learning, NLP, and retrieval methods, lead cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and set best practices for ML deployment and research roadmaps.

Qualifications

• PhD in NLP, IR, ML or related field (or equivalent).
• 8+ years industry experience focused on deep learning-based NLP, LLM pre-training, IR methods.
• Proven ability to lead scientific roadmaps across product areas.

Responsibilities

• Innovative R&D: design scalable ML solutions for personalized learning and tutors.
• Scientific leadership: develop long-term scientific roadmaps aligned with product strategy.
• Cross-functional collaboration: partner with product managers and engineers.
• Mentorship & knowledge sharing: guide scientists and engineers.
• Drive best practices: establish ML deployment pipelines and architecture.
